UCL Open Day Travel Bursary

This year, UCL will be running in-person undergraduate open days on Friday 26 June and Saturday 27 June 2026. We have introduced a travel bursary to help cover the travel costs for prospective undergraduate students from underrepresented groups.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible, students must be in Year 12 and attending a state school or college in the UK, live outside of Greater London and must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Are eligible for free school meals
  • Are currently or have experience of being in care (e.g. local authority care, foster care, residential care)
  • Are a young carer
  • Are estranged from parent(s)
  • Are a forced migrant (e.g. refugee or asylum seeker)
  • Are from the Gypsy, Roma or Traveller community

As the Travel Bursary is limited, you will be awarded points based on the number of criteria that you meet. Applicants with the highest numbers of points will be offered the bursary.

Important information

  • Only costs for public transport will be covered (standard class travel only).
  • Reimbursement only applies to eligible prospective students and up to one parent or carer. Your travel receipt should include your individual tickets and be uploaded as proof to the application. 
  • Once you have attended the Open Day, payment will be reimbursed. Failure to attend the Open Day will result in no reimbursement. We will only reimburse the full amount if the value of the uploaded ticket matches the submission claim.
