Post 16 Leadership Team

Lily

Receiving the title of Head Student is a significant honour, and it brings a sense of pride and joy that is hard to put into words. This role allows me to foster a sense of unity and collaboration among students, which is something I deeply value. I look forward to working with my peers to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.

Since the start of my journey at Coppice, I have been presented with numerous opportunities that have not only given me a greater voice in regards to having a positive impact on the school and even beyond – for example being able to have worked with the Wolverhampton Youth Council – for which I am so grateful for, but they have allowed me to grow as a person. From a quiet, timid Year 7 who never really had the confidence to accept such opportunities, to becoming Head Student just shows how much Coppice has helped me develop as a person.

I am immensely proud and honoured to be Head Student at Coppice. It signifies not only trust in my leadership capabilities, but also a recognition of my dedication and passion for our school community since joining in Year 7.

From the start of my school journey, I have always stepped up to opportunities and shared these with my peers to ensure everyone has a chance at anything they want to do. This is something that will be at the centre of my priorities as Head Student, fostering a school environment full of growth, development and success for everybody.

I faced many challenges when I first started at Coppice in Year 7, but I overcame them with the help of my teachers and peers, and now I want to share my accomplishment. Learning is all about your personal path, but it’s also about the connections you make that help you break down obstacles to learning. Coppice has given me the ability to accomplish that. It has inspired me to develop and not just reach my goals, but go above and beyond them. As a member of the student leadership team, I aspire to achieve my greatest success yet. I am now pursuing A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths with the help of the school, and I am more determined than ever to get to university.

Being a student leader at Coppice isn’t just about representing my peers; it’s about inspiring each of them to see that success is within their reach, no matter their starting point. My journey began as a quiet student, unsure of my potential, but through encouragement of teachers and friends, I grew into someone who believes in not only my success but in the success of everyone around me. Success at Coppice looks different for everyone – it’s a place where each student’s unique path is valued, and as a leader, I am here to make sure everyone’s voice is heard, every effort is acknowledged, and every student feels empowered to achieve whatever they set their minds to, that they know their path is valued, whether it’s in academics, the arts, sports, or personal growth.

Being part of the student leadership is something I’m really thankful for. It’s an amazing opportunity that allows me to make a difference in my school community here at Coppice. I appreciate the chance to represent my peers and voice their ideas and concerns. This role has taught me the importance of collaboration and teamwork, and I love being able to work with other passionate students and teachers to create a positive environment for everyone.

From the start of my journey here at Coppice, I was an extremely shy and quiet person, but I have managed to gain confidence and some outgoing qualities as the years went on. Also, I’ve gained valuable skills like public speaking, problem-solving, and decision-making. These skills are not just important for my role but will also benefit me in the future. I’m grateful for the challenges and opportunities that have pushed me out of my comfort zone, as they’ve helped me become more confident and capable.
