Girton College Inspires Students to Aim High

We were delighted to welcome representatives from Girton College, University of Cambridge, who visited our school to speak with Year 7 and Year 8 students about the importance of raising aspirations and the exciting opportunities available through higher education.

During the inspiring session, students learned about life at one of the world’s leading universities, the wide range of subjects available to study, and the different pathways that can lead to university. The speakers encouraged students to think ambitiously about their future and highlighted how hard work, curiosity and determination can open doors to exciting opportunities.

The visit also challenged common misconceptions about university education, helping students understand that institutions such as Cambridge are accessible to talented students from all backgrounds. Through engaging discussions and interactive activities, students were encouraged to reflect on their own goals and consider the possibilities available to them in the years ahead.

The session formed part of our ongoing commitment to raising aspirations and broadening horizons for all students. We are grateful to Girton College for taking the time to visit and inspire our young people, and we look forward to continuing to work together to help students realise their full potential.

The feedback from students was extremely positive, with many leaving the session feeling motivated and excited about their future educational journeys. Experiences such as these play an important role in helping our students develop confidence, ambition and a belief that they can achieve their goals.
