End of Term
As our first term at Coppice draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to tell you about some of the great work that has been happening and share some important information for next term.
Throughout Autumn we have been impressed by the many individual academic and enrichment achievements of our students, including a variety of Student Leadership events and Remembrance Service assemblies. Another highlight has been our weekly ‘Hot Chocolate Friday’ where we have enjoyed some time out with those students deserving of special recognition. We look forward to getting to know lots more students in this way.
We are particularly proud of the conduct of Year 11 in their recent mock examinations and anticipate a busy start to next term as we work together to build on this and prepare for the forthcoming summer examinations.
Prior to the Christmas Holidays, we still have some school events we wish to share with you:
Friday 14th December, we will be joining the Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day. Staff and students are invited to join the festive fun by wearing their Christmas Jumpers and donating £1. Full school uniform is still to be worn, however for one day only students are encouraged to wear their brightest, funniest, craziest Christmas jumpers. We will also be holding a raffle on the day; tickets will be available for students to purchase during break and lunchtime.
Tuesday 18th December, all students and carers are invited to join us for our first ‘Coppice by Candlelight’ event. The evening will commence at 7:30pm in our School’s Somnium Theatre. This will be a celebration of the array of talent we have in performing arts. Tickets are on sale via Parent Pay.
School Closes for Christmas Holidays
In line with our partner schools within the Academy Trust, the last day of term for students will be Thursday 20th December 2018. All students will be dismissed at 1:05pm. A lunch provision will be available for any Free School Meal students and must be collected at break time on Thursday (orders to be placed with the kitchen by Tuesday 18th December).
School will re-open to students at 8:40am on Monday 7th January 2019. We are delighted to announce some new colleagues who will be joining us; Mr Khan (Student Support Officer), Miss Manikkaratnam (Teacher of Maths) and Mr Purville (Teacher of PE).
January will see us embark upon a new programme called ‘The Coppice Edge’. This is a character education programme designed to develop the key life skills of Leadership, Organisation, Resilience, Initiative and Communication (LORIC). Character education initiatives are seeing great results around the country and we are confident that Coppice will too.
We would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year.
Miss K. Bains and Mr A. McLean
